Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser returns with a colourful and electrifying show that you don’t want to miss.

What happens when the sounds of the orchestra are united to the colourful world of Indian Music? You will be surprised! Whether it is classical music by modern Indian composers, or dance music and beloved Bhangra favourites, you'll be thrilled to hear your Orchestra do what it does best; bring music to life in unforgettable ways. With the Kitchener-Waterloo Youth Orchestra and guest dancing artists Maritime Bhangra and Sanskriti Arts, this show is a treat for the ears -and the eyes!"

New to Bhangra?

Great music has never existed in isolation. Claude Debussy’s shimmering harmonies were profoundly shaped by the Javanese gamelan he heard at the 1889 Paris Exposition, and Béla Bartók transformed the sound of the concert hall by studying and incorporating Hungarian and other Eastern European folk songs into his compositions. These examples remind us that culture is not static—it is porous, swirling, and radiant, constantly enriched by ideas moving across borders and communities. Attending a concert that draws on musical traditions beyond our own lived experience is not a departure from the orchestral tradition; it is a continuation of it.

In Canada’s multicultural landscape, where we share civic and cultural space with people of many backgrounds, listening across traditions becomes an act of curiosity, respect, and connection. Some musical gestures may feel unfamiliar, others surprisingly recognizable—but in that exchange, we experience how artistic voices meet, influence one another, and ultimately expand what an orchestra can be.

Join us for Bhangra Pops on Saturday, May 23, 2026, 8:00–10:00 p.m. at Centre in the Square, and be part of that shared musical conversation.
